This notice explains how we handle the personal information of people who subscribe to the ProAgri e-newsletter, in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). It covers the newsletter and this website (see section 9). Our magazine website has its own policy at proagri.co.za/privacy-policy.

We send the newsletter from the domain growagri.co.za.
2. What we collect
- Your email address, and your name if you gave it to us.
- Where and when you subscribed (the newsletter sign-up form on proagri.co.za, event or magazine subscription), as a record of your consent.
- Newsletter activity: whether a newsletter was delivered, opened or clicked, and whether it bounced or was reported as spam.
We do not collect ID numbers, banking details or any special personal information for the newsletter.
3. Why we use it
- To send you the newsletter you asked for (lawful basis: your consent).
- To stop emailing addresses that bounce, report our email as spam, or unsubscribe.
- To see which content readers find useful, so we can improve the newsletter.
We do not sell, rent or share your email address with advertisers or anyone else. Sponsors pay to appear inside the newsletter, but they never receive our subscriber list.
4. Who processes it for us
The newsletter is sent through Amazon Simple Email Service (Amazon Web Services), and our subscriber list is stored on our own secured systems. These operators process your details only on our instructions and under their own security obligations. Some processing may take place outside South Africa, with providers bound to protection comparable to POPIA.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your details while you are subscribed. When you unsubscribe, we keep only your email address on a “do not send” list, so that you are never emailed again by mistake. You can ask us to delete that too (see section 7).
6. Security
Access to subscriber data is limited to staff who need it. Unsubscribe links are signed so that only you can use yours. Our sending domain is authenticated with SPF and DKIM and publishes a DMARC record, which helps mail providers recognise genuine email from us.
7. Your rights
Under POPIA you may, at any time and at no cost:
- withdraw your consent by unsubscribing, using the link in any newsletter (see how to unsubscribe);
- ask what personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct or delete it;
- object to our processing of it.

8. Changes
If we change this notice, we will update the date at the top of this page.
9. This website
- This site sets no tracking or advertising cookies.
- The calculators run in your browser. What you type into them is not stored and is not sent to us.
- The one exception is the growing degree days tool: to fetch weather data it sends the latitude, longitude and dates you choose to Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com), a third-party weather service. It sends nothing else about you.
